In a tragic escalation of violence, at least 77 Palestinians were killed and 174 injured in a series of Israeli attacks across Gaza, according to the Gaza Health Ministry’s latest report. The assaults have further deepened the humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory, where thousands of civilians continue to suffer the devastating consequences of the conflict.
Among the casualties, at least 15 Palestinians lost their lives in two separate Israeli strikes on school shelters in Gaza City. These schools were housing civilians who had been forcibly displaced by the ongoing war. The attacks have drawn widespread condemnation, with aid organizations warning of the severe impact on vulnerable populations.
A newly released report titled “Gaza Death Trap” by Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has pointed to “clear signs of ethnic cleansing” in the region. The organization highlighted the dire conditions facing Palestinians and called for urgent international intervention to prevent further loss of life.
Since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry reports that at least 45,206 Palestinians have been killed and over 107,512 injured. The violence was triggered by a Hamas-led attack on Israel that killed 1,139 people and resulted in more than 200 hostages being taken.
The World’s Response: A Critical Crossroads
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees, has underscored the need for global leaders to act decisively. In an article for The Guardian, Lazzarini urged the international community to uphold the rules-based order and pursue a political resolution to the Palestinian crisis.
Lazzarini warned that the world is at a crossroads. One path leads to a dystopian future where Israel, as the occupying power, bears full responsibility for the people in the occupied Palestinian territories. The alternative is a world where international laws are respected, and the Palestinian issue is addressed through a two-state solution.

“This is the path currently being pursued by the global alliance for the implementation of the two-state solution,” he wrote, emphasizing that the political courage of global leaders is essential to achieving peace.
Allegations Against UNRWA
Lazzarini also addressed Israel’s repeated claims that Hamas has infiltrated UNRWA. He stressed that any allegations supported by evidence have been thoroughly investigated. Despite these claims, UNRWA remains critical to the survival of millions of Palestinians, providing essential services such as education, healthcare, and humanitarian aid.
The situation in Gaza continues to worsen, with calls for ceasefires and humanitarian assistance growing louder. The global community faces an urgent decision: either uphold human rights and international law or risk further deepening the conflict’s humanitarian toll.
As the violence continues, innocent civilians remain trapped in a deadly cycle, desperately awaiting a solution that brings lasting peace and justice to the region.
