Elon Musk Says His Posts on Trump ‘Went Too Far’ — Signs of a Shocking Reconciliation

In a surprising twist to their very public fallout, Elon Musk has admitted that he may have crossed the line in his recent online comments about President Donald Trump.

The billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX took to his platform, X (formerly Twitter), on Wednesday, saying:

“I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.”

While Musk didn’t clarify which posts he was referring to, his apology-like statement marks a notable shift from his earlier fiery tone. Just days ago, Musk had harshly criticized Trump’s latest tax and spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.” That heated exchange led Trump to declare that their relationship was over, threatening to terminate government contracts with Musk’s companies.

However, the latest comments from Musk seem to be an olive branch—and Trump appears to have accepted it, telling the New York Post, “I thought it was very nice that he did that.”

According to insiders, key Trump allies—including J.D. Vance and longtime Musk friend David Sacks—played a behind-the-scenes role in encouraging a truce between the two high-profile figures. Their reconciliation is seen as critical by many, especially given the financial and political stakes involved.

Musk, who reportedly spent nearly $300 million supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign, had been given a high-profile role in the Trump administration to cut government spending. However, he stepped down last month after strongly opposing Trump’s tax agenda, sparking the rift.

The sudden change in tone may also have business motivations. Analysts suggest Musk is trying to shield his ventures from political backlash, especially since billions in government contracts and regulatory power hang in the balance.

Tesla shares, which took a beating during the online feud, surged by 1.3% on Wednesday. Investors see the de-escalation as a positive sign. “It’s not in either man’s best interest to let the drama continue,” said Matthew Britzman, an analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown.

Political strategist Shawn Campbell emphasized the scale of the fallout, saying, “When the richest man in the world and the President of the United States go to war, the implications are massive—economically and politically.”

Interestingly, Musk has deleted several of his more controversial posts, including one in support of impeachment. Trump has also softened his stance, stating he had no issue if Musk called him and wished the entrepreneur well. Musk responded with a heart emoji to a video of Trump’s remarks, suggesting the ice might truly be thawing.

As of now, it remains to be seen whether their professional relationship can fully recover. But one thing is clear: this isn’t just another celebrity spat—it’s a high-stakes power dance with real-world implications for politics, markets, and the future of American innovation.
