Iran vs Israel: Missile Strikes, Nuclear Sites Hit, and Fears of a Full-Scale War

A dangerous escalation between Israel and Iran has pushed the Middle East to the brink of a wider conflict, with missile strikes, destroyed cities, and rising death tolls dominating headlines.

On Saturday, Iran and Israel exchanged a barrage of missiles and airstrikes, following Israel’s massive aerial assault on Iranian nuclear and military sites. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed the strikes set back Iran’s nuclear program “by years” and warned that the current attacks were only the beginning.

“What they have felt so far is nothing compared to what’s coming,” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli attacks reportedly targeted key Iranian officials, scientists, and nuclear infrastructure. In retaliation, Iran launched around 200 ballistic missiles and drones in several waves, hitting Israeli cities and causing widespread panic. Air raid sirens echoed across Israel, forcing residents into shelters. Despite Israel’s missile defense systems intercepting many projectiles, at least three Israelis were killed, and dozens more were injured.

In Tehran, a tragic scene unfolded as a 14-storey apartment building collapsed, killing dozens—including 20 children, according to Iranian state TV. Across Iran, over 150 Israeli strikes have been reported, killing nearly 140 people in two days, with many more injured.

The U.S., Israel’s strongest ally, confirmed it assisted in intercepting Iranian missiles. President Donald Trump praised Israel’s offensive and issued a stern warning to Iran, urging the country to scale down its nuclear ambitions or face greater consequences.

Meanwhile, Iran’s response has been defiant. The country warned that U.S. military bases in the region could become targets if American forces continue supporting Israel. Iranian leaders also hinted at a possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil exports—a move that already triggered a 7% surge in oil prices on Friday.

Iran’s Foreign Minister called ongoing nuclear talks with the U.S. “unjustifiable” amid Israeli bombings, stalling efforts for diplomacy.

Despite the fear gripping both nations, images from Israel showed civilians trying to return to normal life. In Tel Aviv, beaches remained packed, even after a night of terrifying explosions.

The conflict has raised alarm across the globe. Many fear a prolonged war could destabilize the region, drag in global powers, and severely impact the global economy.
