Elon Musk vs Donald Trump: Behind the Feud and Why It Needs to End Soon

A surprising political drama is playing out in the public eye, pitting two powerful figures—Elon Musk and former U.S. President Donald Trump—against each other. According to Errol Musk, Elon’s father, the ongoing clash between the tech billionaire and the political heavyweight is rooted in months of mounting stress and needs to end—fast.

Speaking at the “Forum of the Future 2025” in Moscow, Errol Musk shed some light on the escalating conflict. He explained that the feud was triggered not by a single incident, but by a buildup of emotional pressure. “They’ve had five months of intense stress,” Errol said, referring to both Elon and Trump. “With all the opposition cleared and only two people left in the arena, all they’re doing now is trying to get rid of each other—that has to stop.”

Last week, the tension between the two boiled over on social media. Elon Musk openly criticized Trump’s sweeping tax and spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.” Trump, who had once relied on Musk’s financial support during his 2024 presidential campaign, responded harshly. He declared that his relationship with Musk was officially over and warned of “serious consequences” if Musk decided to fund Democratic candidates.

The falling-out is particularly dramatic considering Musk’s past role in Trump’s political operations. Musk not only helped bankroll Trump’s campaign but was also appointed to lead a major initiative to shrink the federal workforce and reduce government spending. That shared mission has now dissolved into a bitter rivalry.

Errol Musk, while clearly loyal to his son, took a pragmatic tone during the conference. “Elon is sticking to his principles,” he said. “But you cannot always stick to your principles in the real world. Sometimes you have to give and take.”

Asked how the dispute might end, Errol remained optimistic. “Oh, it will end on a good note—very soon.”

Errol also made controversial remarks during his appearance in Moscow. Seated beside sanctioned Russian tycoon Konstantin Malofeyev, he praised Russian President Vladimir Putin as “a very stable and pleasant man,” and criticized Western media for portraying Russia negatively. “The fake media is projecting complete nonsense about Russia,” he said.

Neither the White House nor Elon Musk has commented officially on the feud as of now.

What’s clear is that the public spat between Musk and Trump represents more than a personal disagreement. It reveals the fragile dynamics between wealth, politics, and influence in today’s global landscape. Whether or not the feud ends peacefully—as Errol Musk predicts—remains to be seen, but the world is certainly watching.
